The Rattlers opened up the season at the Hill Country Classic in Dripping Springs where San Marcos won their first games, defeating Hays County rivals Dripping Springs and Kyle Lehman.
The Rattlers are now 20 for the season.
San Marcos started the tournament against the hosts in the Dripping Springs Tigers.
The Rattlers scored first in the second inning when Nate Velasquez laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Jyuan Alonso at third with one out to put San Marcos up 1-0.
But on the bunt, a Tigers error allowed Velasquez to advance to third base.
The error proved critical as Velasquez was brought home on a sacrifice fly by Juan Munos, extending the Rattlers lead to 2-0.
The Tigers answered back in the bottom of the second, scoring on an RBI single to cut their deficit down to 2-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Rattlers extended their lead when Elijah Ramirez connected with a two-run RBI triple.
Ramirez later scored on a sacrifice fly by Charlie Helgeson to make it a 51 game.
The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning but were unable to complete the comeback as San Marcos won 5-3.
In the next game, the Rattlers battled the Kyle Lehman Lobos.
San Marcos struck first in their first at-bat when Helgeson hit an RBI single with Ramirez scoring from second.
In the next at-bat, Landon Munoz crushed an RBI triple in right field to score Helgeson and extend the lead.
Andrew Wilson tacked on another run, hitting an RBI single to make it a 3-0 game.
After Colson Geesee hit a sacrifice fly into center field, the Rattlers struck again as Munos hit a two-run RBI single as San Marcos ended the first inning up 6-0.
The Lobos responded by scoring three runs in the second inning, cutting the Rattlers lead in half at 6-3.
Jack Vasquez added another run for the Rattler offense in the bottom of the second, hitting a sac fly into center to extend the lead to 7-3.
Velasquez scored another run on a basesloaded walk before a fly ball hit by Munos turned into an error by Lehman, allowing two Rattler runs to come across.
At the end of the second inning, San Marcos led 10-3.
San Marcos tacked on two more runs in the fourth on fielder’s choices by Munos and Helgeson while Lehman scored three in the top of the sixth inning as San Marcos came away with a 12-6 win.
The Rattlers will play Waxahachie and Keller on Friday before playing Rockwall and Austin Westlake on Saturday.
