Texas State enters week in fifth place, one game out of first place
The Bobcats saw their seven-game win streak come to an end against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, losing 67-54.
Texas State falls to 1812 overall and 10-7 in conference play while the Cajuns improve to 10-19 overall and 7-9 in conference play.
“A tough loss for us. I think you have to give all the credit to Coach [Quannas White], his staff and players. They made it hard for us on both ends,” Head Coach Terrence Johnson said. “We struggled to get into a rhythm and they had a lot to do with that. We’ll regroup and be ready for senior night on Friday.”
The Bobcats were unable to overcome shooting 37.3% from the field despite out-rebounding the Cajuns 32-28. The Cajuns shot 48.9% from the field, including 9-13 from three-point range.
Freshman D.J. Hall led the team with 18 points followed by junior Mark Drone with 10 points. Hall led the team in rebounds with six.
Texas State enters the final week of the conference play in fifth place, where the Bobcats will face the conference leaders in App State at home. Texas State is currently one game behind App State in the Sun Belt Conference standings.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Strahan Arena.
