Leadership golf tournament to benefit Little League

The month of February again has been an extremely busy month at the Chamber. Staff has prepared for the Business Expo (Showcase), held several ribbon cuttings, hosted our first quarterly Chamber Membership Luncheon, and accomplished some Chamber Member Management Software upgrades to better serve our members.

The Chamber Committees are meeting to plan for events that are six months away and Leadership Seguin is planning their annual fundraiser, and Seguin Area Youth Leadership Academy committee members are planning to welcome new youth leadership participant applications in the very near future!

The 2026 Business Expo at Seguin Coliseum on Thursday, Feb. 26 was very popular, featuring groovy people enjoying the “Do the Hustle to Success” retro disco theme, with businesses celebrating their brands and building relationships in style.

LEADERSHIP SEGUIN GOLF TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER

Leadership Seguin 2026 is planning a golf tournament on March 5 at The Bandit Gold Course to raise funds for their project that benefits Seguin Little League. Seguin Little League needs some help making their fields safer for the players. The Leadership Class is planning to revamp the dugouts by raising the concrete height of the dugout floor so dirt and water does not stand if games are played after a rain event.

They are also working to fix the dugout roofs, add access gates for each side of the field, and restroom renovations. If they raise enough funds, they too are working to upgrade the public address system and provide batting cages for each of the teams to have batting practice on the fields that they practice on.

There are a few golf teams and Golf Tournament Sponsorships that remain. For more information about a team or a sponsorship you can contact any Leadership Seguin Participant or you can call the Chamber Office, and we can help direct you to the correct person. Deadline for teams and sponsors is the first week of March.

SEGUIN AREA YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY (SAYLA)

Like the adult Leadership Class, there is a Youth Leadership Class where they accomplish many of the same learning outcomes as the adult class – but they finish the “academy” within a week.

The SAYLA class dates for 2026 are June 13 – 18, with a mandatory Team Overnight Stay on June 13. The course is open to incoming high school juniors (eleventh grade) or incoming seniors (twelfth grade) and daily attendance during the weeklong program is required.

If you know a high school student that fits the description, wants to learn about leadership, our city, our county, see the inside of manufacturing operations, meet with city leaders, plan and complete a service project – all in a week – have them contact the Chamber for more information. There are scholarships that are available for the course if there are students who need scholarship help to attend.
