Couple arrested in child pornography, bestiality investigation

GUADALUPE COUNTY

Two suspects have been arrested for alleged possession of child pornography and bestiality following a criminal investigation by the Guadalupe County Sheriff ’s Office. The charges were reported in the 2100 block of Flintshire Drive, New Braunfels, Guadalupe County.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff ’s Office Special Investigation Bureau initiated an investigation after receiving information from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) regarding a federal undercover operation. During that federal investigation, a residential search warrant was executed at a separate location.

Electronic evidence was seized and forensically reviewed by HSI. Although no federal charges were filed, HSI requested that Guadalupe County pursue state charges after child sexual abuse material and bestiality material were located during their examination, according to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.

Guadalupe County investigators later obtained a state search warrant to review the digital evidence. Upon examination on Feb. 5, investigators developed probable cause that both individuals knowingly possessed child sexual abuse material and bestiality material. Investigators also established probable cause that Scott Joseph Mikos assisted in the production and distribution of bestiality material.

As a result, investigators assigned to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Special Investigation Bureau submitted probable cause affidavits to 25th Judicial District Judge William D. Old III, who issued arrest warrants on Feb. 25. The same day, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Angel Irene Mikos, 44, and Scott Joseph Mikos, 56, both of New Braunfels.

Angel Irene Mikos is charged with Possession or Promotion of Child Pornography (<10 images) and Bestiality. Scott Joseph Mikos is charged with Possession or Promotion of Child Pornography (>50 images) and Bestiality.

This remains an active investigation and has not yet been presented to the Guadalupe County Attorney for prosecution. No additional details related to the investigation will be released at this time.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office is committed to investigating allegations of this nature thoroughly and holding accountable those who violate the law.
