The San Marcos River has been the center of and sustained life in Central Texas for millennia. Its beauty is virtually unparalleled and I’d certainly like to keep it that way. People who feel the same way are meeting this weekend for the Great Texas River Cleanup at the San Marcos Scout Camp. Boat and gear drop off is at 8 a.m. with launch scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Meet at 444 Pecan Park Drive in San Marcos, and please bring your own boat, paddle and safety gear. If you are looking for something fun to do, Wimberley Market Days kicks off their first day of the 2026 season after taking January and February off. If you have never been, it is one of the largest outdoor markets in Texas with nearly 500 booths selling every type of item imaginable under the sun. We’ll see if the weather holds out. I certainly won’t curse the rain.
