The Rattlers bounced back from the districtopening loss to Buda Johnson to sweep their tournament in San Antonio, finishing the weekend with four wins.
San Marcos improves to 10-7-1 for the year.
The Rattlers started the tournament against the Del Rio Rams where San Marcos won in a shutout 7-0. Charlie Helgeson led the offense, going 3-4 from the plate with three RBIs. Kane Hernandez earned the win, throwing 3.2 innings allowing just three hits, no runs and striking out two batters.
In the next game, the Rattlers faced the San Antonio Churchill Chargers, with San Marcos scoring three runs in the top of the sixth to seal a 5-3 comeback win.
Ronaldo Mendez-Soto earned the win, throwing the final two innings while allowing just two hits, no earned runs, and striking out two batters.
On Friday, the Rattlers returned to play where they faced Del Rio in a rematch.
San Marcos scored eight runs in the first inning, en route to a 15-2 win for the Rattlers. Andrew Wilson led the offense, going 2-3 from the plate with three RBIs. Malachi Munoz earned the win, throwing two innings while allowing just two hits and no earned runs.
The Rattlers closed out tournament play Saturday as San Marcos faced the San Antonio Stevens Falcons. San Marcos scored four unanswered runs in the final four innings to seal a 9-5 over Stevens.
Jack Vasquez led the offense, going 3-4 from the plate while Wilson and Nate Velasquez both had two RBIs each. Helgeson earned the win, throwing the final two innings, allowing no hits and no runs.
The Rattlers will be playing a district matchup this week against the Schertz Clemens Buffaloes in a twogame series.
Game 1 will be at Clemens Tuesday while Game 2 will be in San Marcos Friday. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
