Rattlers comeback falls short against Clemens

SMHS BASEBALL

The Rattlers fell in their road district game last Tuesday, losing to the Schertz Clemens Buffaloes 7-5.

San Marcos falls to 108-1 overall and 0-2 in district play while Clemens improves to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in district play.

San Marcos fell behind 7-1 through the first four innings, with the lone run coming from a fielder’s choice by Elijah Ramirez.

Going into the fifth inning, the Rattlers started their comeback attempt.

Jack Vasquez scored a run on a ground-out before Colson Geesee was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded, making it a 7-3 game.

Later in the top of the sixth, Ramirez struck again, hitting an RBI double, cutting the deficit down to 7-4.

In their final at-bat of the game, the Rattlers added another run on a fielder’s choice by Cole Wiatrek, allowing Vasquez to score.

The Rattlers loaded up the bases with one out but Clemens completed the double play to seal the win at 7-5.

San Marcos returns home Friday against Clemens as the Rattlers look for their first district win. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
