Bobcats shut out by Lamar

Texas State set to host No. 2 Texas Wednesday

The Bobcats fell on the road against Lamar, losing to the Cardinals 8-0 in a run-rule loss.

Texas State falls to 1910 overall while Lamar improves to 14-15.

The Cardinals struck first in the bottom of the first, scoring on an RBI single. Lamar scored again on a wild pitch before an RBI double extended the Cardinal lead to 3-0.

Lamar continued to pour it on the Bobcat defense, adding another two runs on both an RBI single and an RBI double.

In the bottom of the third, Lamar scored again on a wild pitch before an RBI single made it a 7-0 game. A Bobcat error scored another run for the Cardinals as Texas State trailed 8-0.

The Bobcat bats were held silent as Texas State could only muster two hits against Lamar despite forcing seven walks. However, Texas State left nine runners on base as Lamar pulled off the shutout in the bottom of the fifth to seal the Bobcats’ defeat. Texas State returns home Wednesday as the Bobcats face off with the No. 2-ranked Texas Longhorns.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bobcat Softball Stadium.

Coverage of the Bobcats conference series against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns will be published in the Wednesday paper.
