San Marcos Association of Retired Teachers and Staff worked hard to secure new and lightly used children’s books for the local community. This was part of a broader effort, the “Children’s Book Project,” by the Texas Retired Teachers Association.
“SMARTS is very proud to be a big part of it,” said Terri Connor, the Children’s Book Project Administrator.
Local donations come from the public, members and private organizations in San Marcos and across Hays County. Before donations are distributed, members label each book with the TRTA label.
“This year, we proudly donated more than 550 books,” Connor said.
SMARTS will donate to Hays County Women’s Center, Christus Santa Rosa Maternity Ward, TruChoice Maternity Resource Center, Hays County Kids Against Drugs and Hays County Remme Rainbow Room.
