Rattlers drop home district game to No. 4-ranked East Central

The Rattlers fell in their district matchup with the No. 4-ranked East Central Hornets, losing 15-2.

San Marcos falls to 815 overall and 1-4 in district play while East Central improves to 22-2 overall and 6-0 in district play.

The Hornets scored first in the top of the first with an RBI double. The Rattlers answered back in the bottom of the first as Arianna Flores hit an RBI single, tying the game at 1-1.

After a scoreless second inning, the Hornets struck in the top of the third, scoring on a solo home run to take the lead. East Central later added four more runs in the same atbat to lead San Marcos 61.

The Hornets added another five runs in the fifth inning as the Rattler deficit grew to 11-1.

Kendra Robledo stopped the bleeding for the Rattlers, hitting an inside the park home run with the help of an error by East Central, cutting the deficit down to 11-2.

But the Hornets tacked on four runs in the top of the sixth to end the game early at 15-2.

San Marcos returns home Tuesday for district play as the Rattlers host the Converse Judson Rockets.

The Rockets are coming off a 12-0 loss to Cibolo Steele on Friday. Judson enters the week with a 0-6 district record and a 1-16 overall record.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at San Marcos.
