WORLD WATER DAY & YAKONA
Apparently, World Water Day was March 22 and the Meadows Center is celebrating this Saturday all day and night. First, they’re putting on a Family Fun Day at Spring Lake from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free activities, crafts and all kinds of handson ways to learn about the river, or at least give the kids something to do that doesn’t involve a screen. You can wander the grounds, check out the booths and enjoy the beautiful headwaters of the San Marcos River. And if you don’t get your fill, come back that evening. They’ll be showing “Yakona” on the lawn, a film about the San Marcos River told from the river’s own perspective, shown just steps from where it all starts. The family-friendly event begins at 6 p.m. with activities and discounted glass-bottom boat rides, followed by a panel discussion with the film’s directors at 7:15 p.m. The film screening starts at 8 p.m.
