Emergency alerts will be received by devices across all of Texas on April 2 as a part of a statewide Emergency Alert Test.
Here’s what to expect locally according to a spokesperson for the city of San Marcos:
• Around 10 a.m. – Regional test (CAPCOG)
• Around 10:45 a.m. – Countywide alert
• Shortly after – city of San Marcos alert
These will be both wireless emergency alerts and Integrated Public Alert & Warning System alerts. The city encourages residents to sign up for the latter alter at warncentraltexas.org.
Every alerting authority in the state is part of this test. People may also receive alerts from schools, Texas State University, river authorities and others.
