SAN MARCOS AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Career and Technical Education program, invites the community to experience a day of discovery, innovation and fun at the STEAM Career Exploration Fair on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at San Marcos High School.
This free, family-friendly event is open to students of all ages and their families.
Designed to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators, the STEAM Career Exploration Fair brings together local businesses, educators and organizations to showcase real-world careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through hands-on, interactive experiences.
Attendees can explore an exciting lineup of experiences, including a real airplane cockpit experience from the Commemorative Air Force Wing, a planetarium, a virtual reality playroom, and an interactive R2-D2 experience complete with “Star Wars” characters. Families can also get up close with wildlife during the exotic animal experience, explore moon rocks from NASA and watch high-voltage demonstrations by Bluebonnet Electric.
Additional highlights include: - A paper airplane flying contest facilitated by Texas State University’s Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers - Soap box cars from Bobcat Racing - Physics of Olympic weightlifting demonstrations by San Marcos Barbell Club - Public safety and rescue vehicles on display - Student STEM showcases, science fair winners, and live musical performances from SMCISD school groups - An interactive scavenger hunt with door prize entry More than 50 booths will be on-site, including local businesses, organizations and SMCISD campuses, all offering engaging activities that connect classroom learning to real- world applications and career pathways.
“The STEAM Career Exploration Fair is all about creating those ‘aha’ moments for students,” said Page Michel, president and CEO of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce. “When students can see, touch and experience different careers firsthand, it opens their eyes to what’s possible for their future.”

The STEAM Career Exploration Fair is free to attend and offers a unique opportunity for families to explore careers, engage with local industry leaders and enjoy a fun, educational day together.
