Rattlers fall to rival Buda Johnson

SMHS SOFTBALL

The Rattlers fell in their district road game to the rival Buda Johnson Jaguars, losing 9-3.

San Marcos falls to 9-19 for the season and 2-9 in district play.

The Rattlers scored first in the top of the first inning when Julianna Garcia was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded.

Buda Johnson tied the game in the top of the first, hitting an insidethe park home run on a Rattler error.

The Jaguars later took the lead on a two-run RBI double before tacking on another run on a sacrifice fly as the Rattlers trailed 4-1.

Emalyn Martinez responded for the Rattlers in the top of the second, hitting a two-run double, making it a one-run game at 4-3.

Johnson extended their lead in the bottom of the second, scoring on a Rattler error. A fielder’s choice tacked on another run to make it a 6-3 Jaguar lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Jaguars hit back to back RBI doubles, pushing the Rattler deficit to 8-3.

Buda Johnson tacked on one last run in the bottom of the sixth inning making it a 9-3 game.

San Marcos is back home Friday for their last home game of the season against Schertz Clemens.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Friday in San Marcos.
