BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a 74-year-old Texas man who was found dead in a river in southern Montana.
The Billings Gazette reports Whitson Etheridge II, of Houston, went missing the night of July 10, and searchers used dogs and a helicopter equipped with an infrared system to comb the area. He was found dead in the Shields River near Livingston the following morning.
Park County Coroner Al Jenkins says Etheridge drowned, and there is nothing criminal about the death.
Jenkins did not know how Etheridge ended up in the water.
