Beta Sigma Phi has nominated Julia Ramsay New for “Woman of the Year,” honoring over 30 years of service to Central Texas children and families. As a Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker and Licensed Residential Child Care Administrator, New has served at the Texas School for the Deaf and a private residential facility before joining the Greater San Marcos Youth Council, where she has served as Executive Director since the early 1990s. Under her leadership, the organization has significantly expanded its safety and support services for vulnerable youth.

New’s civic leadership includes serving as Presiding Officer of the Hays County Child Fatality Review Team, President of Emergency Services District No. 7, and former President of the Kiwanis Club, alongside years of service to the Hays County Child Protective Board.

A devoted family woman celebrating 39 years of marriage with three children and seven grandchildren, New maintains that “there is nothing more important than protecting children and helping them grow into strong, confident, and productive individuals.” Her unwavering commitment and compassion make her a truly deserving nominee, according to Beta Sigma Phi.
