Mr. Luis R. García Jr., went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. He passed away with his wife, Dolores S. Garcia, of thirty years by his side at the Kyle Ascension Seton Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1942 in San Marcos, Texas to Crestina Rivera and Luis Garcia, Sr.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife Dolores, he was a loving father, provider and supporter of his children, three sons and one daughter, as well as three sisters and a brother living in the San Marcos and Austin area.

He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for forty-eight years as he worked until retirement at Wide Lite Corporation. Luis was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, The American G.I. Forum and The League of United Latin American Citizens.

Luis and Dolores were avid dancers and enjoyed spending time traveling around the state listening to Tejano music. Because of their love of music, they made many wonderful friends including members of many talented Tejano bands.

Luis and Dolores would like to thank Texas Oncology - Dr. Boone Goodgame, Dr. David George, and all the wonderful staff who provided loving care. They would also like to thank Austin Regional Clinic, Dr. Kaleb Hamilton, and staff for their care, as well as Hangar Prosthetics for their expertise.

Visitation will be held at the Thomason Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a Rosary at St. John’s Catholic Church at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Catholic Church on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 10 a.m. and the Burial will follow at the Memory Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Luis Garcia, Jr.
