The Greater San Marcos Youth Council is currently holding its 19th annual school supply drive.
The drive, which started on July 15 and runs until Aug. 16, works closely with parent liaisons from each San Marcos CISD campus, which allows all shelves to be filled for children in need.
“For 19 years, we have organized the community-wide school supply drive in hopes of helping children in our community go to school prepared with the right tools to succeed,” the GSMYC said in a statement. “We know first hand the cost involved in getting kids ready for the school year and often, funds are low and spread thin. Therefore, we host the community-wide School Supply Drive every summer to do what we can to alleviate any added stress to families.”
The GSMYC is a San Marcos based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping local families.
“We strive to shelter children as well as strengthen family units,” GSMYC said. “Community is an important part of our daily operations and we hope to provide for the families in Hays County.”
Monetary donations are also accepted and can be mailed to GSMYC, Attn: School Supply Drive, P.O. Box 1455, San Marcos, Texas 78667.
The school supply drive culminates with a Back to School Reception for donors and supporters on Aug. 22 at the GSMYC headquarters at 1402 North Interstate 35.
