Larkin Smith, a member of the San Marcos Lions Club, was recently installed as the District Governor of Multiple District 2, S3 at the 102nd Lions Clubs International Convention in Milan, Italy, on July 9 by Dr. Jung Yul Choi, the Lions Clubs International president.
District Governor Larkin has been a member of the San Marcos Lion since 1992. He served as club president in 2012-13 and again 2015-26. He is one of 16 District Governors in Texas. There are almost 25,000 Lions serving in Texas and 1,900 members in 52 clubs in District 2-S3 (Central Texas). He has received numerous awards including the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship and the Lions Clubs International Presidential Leadership Medal. He is a graduate of the Advanced Lions Leadership Academy.

The San Marcos Lions Club, chartered in 1941, operates the Tube Rental operations at the City Park in San Marcos. All the proceeds support over 40 different nonprofit organizations in the San Marcos community. In 2020, the club will celebrate 50 years of continuous operation of the Tube Rental. In 2018-19, the club donated an estimated $300,000 to these nonprofits and is a strong supporter of the conservation efforts protecting the San Marcos River.
