'That's All Brother' to make San Marcos Homecoming

The Commemorative Air Force will host a homecoming ceremony for That’s All Brother — an iconic World War II C-47 aircraft — on Friday after a month-long trip to Europe to honor the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.

The Central Texas Wing of the CAF, at the San Marcos Regional Airport, 2249 Airport Dr., will open at 11 a.m. for the public. That’s All Brother is tentatively scheduled to land at 10:30 a.m., where the City of San Marcos Fire Department will hold a water salute of the aircraft as it taxis to the hanger.

The homecoming ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature speeches from Central Texas Wing Leader Joe Enzminger, City of San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson, CAF President/CEO Hank Coates and Representative John Cyrier.

“The efforts put in to recovering and restoring That’s All, Brother inspire new generations to access the matchless stories of the World War II era,” Hughson said in a statement. “It is an honor for our city to serve as the permanent home for this remarkable aircraft.”

That’s All Brother led the formation of over 800 aircraft that dropped appromixately 13,100 paratroopers of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Division on D-Day. In June, the historic aircraft joined 14 other American C-47s to to cross the Atlantic and participate in “Daks Over Normandy,” an event that commemorates the Allied invasion of Normandy.

Friday’s event is free and open to the public.
