Woman dies in traffic accident

A woman died Sunday in a collision on Post Road.

Texas State troopers were dispatched to a reported auto-pedestrian crash on Post Road, approximately 1.5 miles north of San Marcos around 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, according to a preliminary report by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The preliminary investigation determined that a motorized scooter, operated by Sarah Marie Gee, 31,  was traveling northbound on Post Road when she crossed the double-yellow line into southbound traffic. She then struck a 1998 flatbed trailer being towed by a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by David Lois Peterson, 64, officials said.

Gee was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Maggie Moreno and was transported to Central Texas Autopsy.

Peterson serves as Hays County Constable Precinct 1. The Hays County Sheriff's Office confirmed that he was not on duty at the time of accident.

According to a press release from Peterson, he immediately called 911 at the time of the accident, began CPR on the Gee with the help of others and cooperated fully with the investigation.

“My deepest condolences go out to the family of the min-motorcycle driver and I want to help in any way possible,” Peterson said in a statement. “If you want to also help, please send a donation to the GoFundMe account for Sarah (Gee). This will help her funeral expenses and also help her 5 year old son (Jacob).”

At press time on Tuesday, $2,492 was raised on Gee’s GoFundMe. Her GoFundMe can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/funeral-expenses-for-sarah-and-funds-for-her-son
