The City of San Marcos Workforce Housing Taskforce will have its final meeting before the Planning and Zoning Commission makes a recommendation on its Strategic Housing Action Plan.
The taskforce will present its final action plan on Thursday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center — 501 E. Hopkins St. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
The action plan has considered and included feedback from 15 meeting and working groups and two open house events. The taskforce had 749 community members from over 38 different organizations throughout San Marcos participate in the housing discussion. Additionally, the taskforce received 200 written comments and 100 stories from the community.
The action plan has four goals — expand opportunities for housing, preserve and enhance existing housing stock, leverage community and regional partners, and quantify and meet the housing needs of current and future resident
The Planning and Zoning Commission will make a recommendation on the action plan on Sept. 24 with final consideration of the plan by City Council on Oct. 15.
The Workforce Housing Task Force is comprised of 19 community leaders charged with assisting the San Marcos City Council in developing a strategic action plan to address the housing challenges faced by working families in San Marcos.
