San Marcos travels to take on Converse Judson

San Marcos continues District 26-6A play against No. 10 Converse Judson.

Judson (4-0, 1-0 26-6A) is coming off a thrilling 51-48 win over district rival Cibolo Steele. San Marcos (0-4, 0-1) looks to rebound from a 38-35 overtime loss to San Antonio East Central last week.

Despite the loss, the Rattler offense put together its strongest performance of the season, throwing up a season-high 35 points. San Marcos’ passing game led by senior quarterback Alex Garcia amassed 328 yards and two touchdowns.

“(Garcia is) a veteran, it’s his offense right now,” head coach Mark Soto said after Friday’s game. “He’s doing a good job distributing the ball.”

Soto said after the game against East Central that he expects his defense to fly to the football this week.

“The Xs and Os, they’re always on point,” Soto said. “We’re not going to put kids in bad positions. It’s just a matter of attitude — how hard we’re running to the ball. How hard we’re tackling the ball. I would like to get more people to the ball (against East Central) but we’ll get it next week.”

The Rattlers travel to take on the Rockets at D.W. Rutledge Stadium in Converse on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
