Early Thursday morning, a man was arrested after punching a victim and subsequently running from the police.
At approximately 2:41 a.m., Tyler Wilder, 21, knocked a victim to the ground by punching him “for no apparent reason,” according to San Marcos Police Department Assistant Chief Brandon Winkenwerder. The victim, who was walking in the 200 block of Guadalupe Street, sustained a broken nose, a chipped tooth and lip lacerations, officials said.
After witnesses directed police to Wilder, he attempted to run away. After a foot pursuit, Wilder was apprehended and found to have a felony amount of controlled substance with him.
Wilder has been charged with Aggravated Assault Serious Bodily Injury, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Evading Arrest, according to Winkenwerder.
