Ernest Trejo

Ernest Trejo, a resident of Martindale, passed away on September 27, 2019 at the age of 70. He was one of 7 children born to Edmundo and Anselma Riojas Trejo, in Lockhart, Texas.

Ernest married the love of his life, Shirley Gayle Mendez on November 8, 1967 and together raised 3 children Aaron, Sarah and Ruth. 

He retired after 33 years in education as a teacher, with the last 17 years employed with the Lockhart ISD. Ernest was a member of the Catholic Church and the Texas State Teachers Association. He was an avid Fisherman, a member of one of the Bowling League at Sunset Lanes, and a frequent poker player. 

Ernest is preceded in death by his parents and eldest brother, Eddie Trejo.

He leaves behind his devoted and beloved wife of 52 years, Shirley Trejo; 3 children, E. Aaron Trejo and his wife Anna, Sarah Rose Alvarado and Ruth Marie Rizk and her husband Anthony; his siblings, Bertha Trejo, Adam Trejo, Josie Delgado, Maggie Zapata and David Trejo; and his grandchildren: Matthew Aaron Trejo, Mark Alex Trejo and Luke Alvarado.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 1 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m., both at Pennington Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. Serving as pallbearers are Blas Mendez, Jr., David Mendez, Steban DeLeon, Jesse Lopez, Richard Zapata, and David Trejo, Jr.
