Smith named section chief for newly created Disaster Recovery Task Force

Kharley Bagley Smith was named the section chief for the newly created Disaster Recovery Taskforce. Smith will also take on responsibility for the Texas Emergency Management Assistance Team (TEMAT).

Prior to TDEM, Smith held the position of emergency management coordinator and director of emergency services in Hays County. Smith has more than 20 years of experience in emergency services. She started her employment with the Hays County in the Emergency Communications 911 Center while attending Texas State University. After obtaining a degree in Public Administration, Smith furthered her training in Homeland Security, Bioterriorism, Incident Command, and Emergency Management. She transitioned into the position of medical countermeasures coordinator under Emergency Preparedness prior to moving into Emergency Management.
