The 10th Annual Taste event, benefiting the United Way of Hays and Caldwell Counties’ programs and partners, is set for Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center.
Taste attendees will have an opportunity to sample menu items from a wide selection of local restaurants. Previous year’s food fare included roasted butternut squash soup, stuffed mushrooms, homemade pastas, fresh salads, burgers and gourmet cupcakes.
Michelle Harper, president and CEO of United Way of Hays and Caldwell Counties, said each restaurant at the event brings its own flair to the event.
“Restaurants will bring crowd favorites, signature dishes that patrons have come to know them for,” Harper said. “But they also use this event to premiere new creations and concoctions to peak guests’ interests.”
Restaurants participating in Taste 2019 are Rocky River Grille, The 1898, Centerpoint Station Diner & Bakery, Industry, Figaro’s Pizza & Pub, Bravo Company Barbeque and Catering, The Root Cellar, Milt’s Pit BBQ, The Railhouse, Kyle, TX, Weusi Wellness Café, Springs Bistro + Bar, The Original Black’s Barbeque, The Pita Shop, Cody’s Bistro & Lounge, Texas Roadhouse, Milagro’s Hill Country Tex Mex, Blaze Pizza and Rebecca Creek Distillery.
Attendees will be able to bid on more than 115 auction items and dance to “A Tribute to George Strait Show by Derek Spence.”
All event proceeds will benefit the programs and partners of the United Way of Hays and Caldwell Counties, which includes the Greater San Marcos Youth Council, Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girls Empowerment Network, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hays County Food Bank, San Marcos Public Housing Authority and Any Baby Can among others.
According to the United Way of Hays and Caldwell Counties, more than 50,000 Hays and Caldwell County residents used the programs and services funded by United Way in 2018.
“This event is a chance to have fun, while supporting your community,” said Harper. “For the cost of your admission you get a culinary experience, an opportunity to go home with great items from the silent auction, and the satisfaction of knowing that your contributions go towards creating significant lasting changes in our community.”
