CM Allen Parkway Project has been delayed

The City of San Marcos’ CM Allen Parkway Project has been delayed again.

The city engineering and capital improvements department announced that the roadway won’t open until mid-December. The project was already delayed until October but has been delayed even further because of new additions to the project and challenges with foundation moisture related to early summer rain, the City of San Marcos said in a statement.

“Construction on this deteriorating, 30-year-old roadway has been a complicated process but our crews have adapted and met each challenge safely,” said Director of Engineering and Capital Improvements Laurie Moyer in a statement. “Over the next month, we will be working hard to put some critical final touches on the green infrastructure features, concrete curbing and driveways, median work, and sidewalks.”

The crosswalk at the corner CM Allen and Hopkins Street has been opened to pedestrians and the City expects the entire project to be complete in November for the beginning of Sights and Sounds of Christmas event on Dec. 4.

Although pedestrians will have access to CM Allen during Sights and Sounds, the roadway will remain closed until the event is over. Sights and Sounds will be held Dec. 4-7 and Dec. 11-14.
