San Marcos Police are searching for a driver involved in a hit and run accident that severely injured a pedestrian.
A 23-year old man suffered serious injuries after a car hit him near downtown San Marcos early Sunday morning, police said.
SMPD officers responded to an auto-pedestrian crash at approximately 2:14 a.m. on Sunday at the 100 block of West San Antonio Street, officials said.
Police found a victim lying in the street unconscious but breathing. Witnesses told police that the victim was hit while crossing the road by a white sedan traveling east on West San Antonio Street. The vehicle fled the scene traveling north down the alley behind Nephews and turned and travelled west on West Hopkins Street, police said.
SMPD is currently reviewing surveillance video from surrounding businesses and restaurants in hopes of capturing an image of the vehicle involved, officials said. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to contact SMPD officer Andrew Wisener by phone at 512-393-8081 extension 9400, or by email at [email protected].
The victim currently remains in the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.
