Centro selects McCoy’s Building Supply, Tomblin Family Foundation for award

Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos has selected McCoy’s Building Supply and the Tomblin Family Foundation for the Partners in Service Award.

To receive the awards will be Brian F. McCoy on behalf of the McCoy’s Building Supply and Rebecca Tomblin on behalf of the Tomblin Family Foundation.

“These two supporters where among the first to believe in the Centro Vision and have been there for us these past nine years in great service partnership,” said Centro Executive Director Dr. Ricardo Espinoza. “They provide us with financial assistance and service to our  organization in the growth of our programming.”

The ceremony will take place during Centro’s Annual “Noche Gala” on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the San Marcos Conference Center – Embassy Suites.

This year’s event is expected to draw more attendees for an evening of music dancing and keynote by Sandra Cisneros. Cisneros is a poet, short story writer, novelist, essayist, performer, and artist whose work explores the lives of the working-class. Her numerous awards include NEA fellowships in both poetry and fiction, the Texas Medal of the Arts, a MacArthur Fellowship, several honorary doctorates and national and international book awards, including Chicago’s Fifth.

The Program includes dinner with music by the San Marcos High School Orchestra, Texas State Mariachi Nueva Generación and dance band Grupo Vidal.  All proceeds from the event will benefit Centro and help the organization continue the educational, cultural and STEAM based programs for area youth.
