Douglas Preston Higgins, 77 of Blanco, died peacefully on October 8, 2019 in San Marcos, TX after a long battle with illness.

Doug lived a very full life and loved to travel all over the world. He served in the Navy from 1960 – 1963.  After being honorably discharged, he worked for Braniff International, Pioneer Balloon Company and started Preston Electric after his retirement.  He was a longtime member of both the CASI and Tolbert chili groups in Texas.

He is survived by one brother, Norman Higgins, two daughters, Laurie Scharff and Kristin Kullman, two sons-in-law, Kurt Scharff and Will Kullman, four grandchildren, Peter and Preston Scharff and Andrew and Lyla Kullman and his best friend and caretaker, Suzanne Higgins.
