Kyle Police identified a suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Benjamin Albert Verse, officials said.
KPD officers found Verse dead in his vehicle on Sept. 25 at approximately 12:42 a.m. in a business parking lot in the 22000 block of Interstate 35. Kyle Police conducted an investigation into Verse’s death, which led to working with the San Marcos Police Department. The investigation led Justice of the Peace Beth Smith to issue a warrant on Oct. 16 for the arrest of Davonte Tenille Miller, 20, of Kyle for his alleged involvement in this homicide, officials said. The warrant on Miller is for the charge of Capital Murder.
Miller was involved in a separate incident on Sept. 24 in San Marcos. He allegedly shot an 18-year-old woman multiple times near the 600 block of Mill Street on Sept. 24 at approximately 7:54 p.m., according to SMPD.
Miller fled the scene in a 2010 Hyundai Genesis, officials said. SMPD obtained a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon for Miller. He was located and apprehended in Crowley, Louisiana at approximately 10 p.m. on Sept. 25, SMPD said.
He originally attempted to evade law enforcement with his vehicle but he was apprehended by the Crowley Police Department, officials said. Miller was transferred to the Acadia Parish Jail in Crowley where he’s been charged with Hit and Run, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Legend Drug by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Miller remains in custody in the Acadia Parish Jail. The investigation into Verse’s death is currently ongoing with additional charges to follow, KPD said.
