The Hays County Women’s Political Caucus will host a panel discussion on affordable housing at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos, 211 Lee Street, San Marcos.
Panelists will include members of the San Marcos Housing Task Force, including Laura Dupont, Monica Valdez, Melissa Daly, Gloria Salazar and Abby Gillfillan, Planning Manager for the City of San Marcos.
They will summarize the recent Housing Task Force recommendations and the process, issues and questions concerning the recommendations. Program chair Diann McCabe will serve as moderator.
The panel discussion is open to the public and will begin at 5:50 p.m. A members-only business meeting will start at 7 p.m.
Founded in 1973, the Hays County Women’s Political Caucus is a local branch of the National Women’s Political Caucus. The organizations are multi-partisan and focus on increasing women’s political power base. The Hays County Caucus is the largest chapter in Texas.
The organization strives to increase women’s participation in the political process and to identify, recruit, train and support progressive feminist candidates for election and appointment to public office.
The HCWPC supports equality for all women; equal rights for all individuals regardless of race, age, gender, religion, ethnic origin, ability, sexual orientation or immigration status; reproductive freedom and health care services; quality dependent care; and the eradication of violence, poverty and discrimination on any basis.
