Eagle Scout honors Centro founder

Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos is proud to announce an installation ceremony dedicated in honor of Centro Founder Ofelia Vasquez-Philo.

Antonio Garcia of Eagle Scout Troop 1954 created the beautiful rose garden project in 2018 as a tribute to Vasquez-Philo and to Centro in order to help promote the various programs and services provided to the community.

A full Eagle Troop 1954 Ceremony will take place with Centro Executive Director Dr. Ricardo Espinoza as the Master of Ceremony.  Garcia will be receive the Eagle Scout Award from Dean Murphy, his former scoutmaster. This event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 3-6 p.m. at Centro,  211 Lee Street.

In recognition for the outstanding work done by Eagle Scout Garcia, Centro is hosting a reception after the ceremony. They are inviting all Centro friends and supporters to come join them in thanking Garcia and his parents, Gabriel and Carol. In attendance will be members of the Ofelia Vasquez-Philo's family.

The mission of Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos  is to serve as a community beacon for the preservation, development, promotion and a celebration of the Hispanic arts, culture, heritage and values.
