Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip Replacement Certification by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards.
The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
“Being named a Joint Center of Excellence for Total Hip Replacements means we are succeeding in providing the best care to our joint patients,” said CTMC President/CEO Anthony Stahl. “This honor was made possible by our entire orthopedic staff. I am very proud of their hard work day in and day out.”
The certification, in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, focuses on the pre-surgical orthopedic consultation to the intraoperative, hospitalization or ambulatory surgical center admission, rehabilitation activities and follow-up visit with the orthopedic surgeon.
CTMC underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site review this summer. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards including program management and delivering and facilitating clinical care. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted on-site observations and interviews.
“Advanced Total Hip Replacement Certification recognizes health care organizations committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality care,” said Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing executive for The Joint Commission. “We commend Central Texas Medical Center for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for orthopedic patients.”
