Downtown has slew of events and activities taking place this weekend in honor of Veteran's Day.
This year’s Veterans Day parade will take place on Nov. 9 in downtown San Marcos. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and a free biscuit and gravy breakfast will be served before the parade at 8:30 a.m. on the lawn of the Historic Hays County Courthouse, 111 E. San Antonio St. Veterans groups, military organizations, civic clubs, bands, drill teams, public officials, equestrians, youth teams, classic vehicles and others will be participating in the parade and U.S. Navy Veteran Richard Zeni will serve as grand Marshal.
A Salute to Veterans via a display of local vet’s stories created by Crockett and Hernandez Elementary school students, and impromptu sing-alongs with members of the Heart of Texas Chorus will be highlights of the Price Center’s San Mercado slated for Saturday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
In addition, the San Marcos Farmers Market will be taking place on San Antonio Street from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Art Squared will betaking place on the courthouse lawn from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Downtown Walkabout activities will be happening throughout the day, including the opening of 218 Co-Op Gallery’s Tiny Texas Art Show.
