San Marcos City Manager Bert Lumbreras announced a new hire for the city’s Economic and Business Development Manager position.
Scott Hardwick, who is currently a senior business advisor with the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Small Business Development Center, will fill the position, Lumbreras announced Thursday.
“We are excited to have Scott bring his passion for business retention, expansion and recruitment to San Marcos,” Lumbreras said in a statement. “He’ll work to expand our successful economic development efforts as he collaborates with staff, local organizations and businesses to bring new jobs and tax base to our community.”
Hardwick received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He is certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council and is a member of the International Economic Development Council and the U.S. Green Building Council.
Prior to joining SBDC, Hardwick was a tax consultant for 15 years helping Fortune 500 companies.
“Hardwick will bring expertise in utilizing business development techniques and securing business incentives to attract companies to invest in San Marcos,” the city said in a statement. “He also has experience in conducting technical research on business incentive legislation to pursue domestic and international companies.”
