DPS identifies man killed in plane crash

Officials have identified the victim of Wednesday’s airplane crash

Robb Stuart Van Eman, 48, of West Lake Hills, was killed in the crash that occurred near the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center in Maxwell, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

San Marcos Police and Fire worked in conjunction with Hays County and the Federal Aviation Administration following Wednesday’s incident, the City of San Marcos said in a press release. 

Officials say the aircraft, a Raytheon A-36 Bonanza, took off from the San Marcos Regional Airport at 5:54 a.m. on Wednesday and lost contact with air traffic control at 5:55 a.m. The aircraft was later located on ALERRT Center property at approximately 8:03 a.m., where Van Eman was found. 

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
