The San Marcos Police Department will honor fallen officer Kenneth Copeland with a memorial ceremony on Wednesday, which marks two years since he was killed in the line of duty.
Copeland was shot and killed while serving a warrant on Dec. 4, 2017.
Wednesday’s memorial will take place at the San Marcos Police Station — 2300 South Interstate 35 — at 2:45 p.m. The ceremony will consist of a brief prayer of remembrance by Pastor Jeff Latham, volunteer chaplain for SMPD. The memorial will be held in front of a tree planted in Copeland’s honor at the station in 2018.
