For the first time ever, the San Marcos City Cemetery will join nearly 2,000 participating cemeteries as an official location in Wreaths Across America Day 2019.
The San Marcos City Cemetery plans to place 531 wreaths on the headstones of all local veterans on the grounds on Saturday at 10 a.m.
“We are forever grateful for the thousands of supporters who dedicate their time and effort to fulfilling the mission on a local level,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. “These individuals and their communities know the value of remembering the fallen, honoring those who currently serve and teaching the next generation about the sacrifices made for our freedom every day, and without their continued support, Wreaths Across America would not exist.”
This free community event comprised of dedicated volunteers honors the service and memory of the nation’s veterans. The visual statement also serves to teach the next generation about the sacrifices made throughout the United States’ history of military service.
