Aggravated robbery suspect arrested

The suspect in a Christmas aggravated robbery was arrested by members of the Austin Police Department and the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force.

Officials say John Robert Garrison, 49, entered the Corner Store of Drippings Springs — located at the intersection of Sawyer Ranch Road at U.S. Highway 290 — displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cashier at approximately 2:05 a.m. on Dec. 25.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office investigated the holiday heist and identified Garrison as the suspect. According to the sheriff’s office, Garrison was found to have multiple outstanding warrants, including two for aggravated robbery, with the Austin Police Department and a warrant for a parole violation from the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole.

Garrison was located and arrested without incident on Jan. 7 by officers of the Austin Police Department Robbery Unit and agents with the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force at a North Austin hotel. He was booked into the Travis County Jail.

Investigations into the incidents Garrison is involved in are ongoing.
