Six arrested after foot and vehicle pursuit

Six people have been charged after allegedly stealing purses from customers at Walmart, stealing a vehicle from the parking lot and running from police. 

The San Marcos Police Department was dispatched to Walmart Supercenter — 1015 Highway 80 — at approximately 2:19 p.m. on Sunday in regard to six individuals roaming the store and reportedly stealing two purses from customers, officials said. Witness told police that the six individuals also attempted to use keys found inside the purses to locate the victims’ vehicles in the parking lot, SMPD said.

Officials say two suspects stole a Buick Enclave and were later located by officers. The fleeing suspects evaded police but crashed the vehicle near the intersection of State Highway 123 and De Zavala. The duo ran on foot but were soon taken into custody. 

Three of the six suspects involved were identified as Keilan Lachai Johnson, 20, Alexander Perrie Wilson, 18, and Sharome Fields, 17. Three minors were inovled. 

Further investigation determined that the six suspects drove to San Marcos in a stolen vehicle from Pflugerville.  

Johnson and one minor are charged with theft of property (vehicle) $30<$150K. Fields, Wilson and one minor were charged with criminal trespassing of motor vehicle. Johnson and two minors were arrested for evading by foot. Two minors were arrested for evading by vehicle. Johnson and one minor were charged with unauthorized use of vehicle. All six were arrested for engaging in organized criminal activity. Johnson and one minor were arrested for fraud use/possession of debit/credit cards. 

Johnson remains in the Hays County Jail on a $32,750 bond, Wilson remains in the Hays County jail on a $9,000 bond, and Fields remains in the Hays County Jail on a $7,000 bond.
