The City of San Marcos will host a meet and greet tonight at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center for the public to meet its new executive staff.
New Assistant City Managers Stephanie Reyes and Joe Pantialion and Director of Public Safety Chase Stapp will meet and visit with the public during Thursday’s event.
“We’re excited for our residents, business owners, students and organizational leaders to have the opportunity to meet our newly appointed executive team,” City Manager Bert Lumbreras said in a statement. “These are exciting times for San Marcos as we move forward in 2020 to achieve the council goals and initiatives for our growing community.”
As a city staff member for 18 years, Reyes has spent time in various roles within the organization and most recently served as chief of staff. Prior to that, she served as assistant director of human resources and as assistant to the city manager. She will continue to oversee Administrative Services including the City Manager’s Office, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Communications/Intergovernmental Relations, along with Parks & Recreation and Destination Services. She was permanently appointed to this position in December after serving five months as Interim Assistant City Manager.
Pantalion joins the city after working as the assistant city manager for the City of Richardson. He previously worked for the City of Austin for 22 years where he served in various roles, including director and deputy director of the Watershed Protection and Development Department. Pantalion began his new position in San Marcos on Tuesday.
Stapp began his role as interim director of public safety in September and moved permanently into that role in December. Stapp had previously served as chief of police since 2014 and has worked for the city for more than 27 years. He will continue to oversee Police, Fire, Emergency Management, Municipal Court and Neighborhood Enhancement, which includes the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter.
Thursday's meet and greet begins at 5 p.m. and stretches until 6:30 p.m. inside the Spring Lake Ballroom at the Embassy Suites.
