City to host three community meetings on transit plan

The City of San Marcos will host three community meetings on Tuesday in an effort to seek public input for the city’s transit plan — a five-year transit plan for the San Marcos community.

Pop-up information meetings will occur on the Texas State University Quad from 8-11 a.m. and at the San Marcos Station, 338 S. Guadalupe St., from 1-3 p.m. A formal planning meeting will be hosted from 6-7:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins St.

This is the second round of meetings seeking input for a Five-Year Strategic Plan for transit service within San Marcos. Participants will be asked to address proposed transit route redesigns and other concepts based on feedback from the previous community meetings.

Earlier this year, the Federal Transit Agency designated the city as the “Direct Recipient” of federal transit funds which has been one of the city council’s strategic initiatives in 2018 and 2019.

The Capital Area Rural Transportation System will continue to provide public transit services to the city for the coming year, and the Texas State University Bobcat Shuttle will continue with its current operation.
