San Marcos Fire Chief Lester “Les” Stephens was appointed to the One-Call Board of Texas last month by Governor Greg Abbott.
The seven-member board has authority over “Call Before You Dig” systems that notify the underground facility operators for excavation plans so pipelines and utility lines can be marked to prevent accidents.
“Les continues to go above and beyond to serve our community and lead our exceptional Fire Department team,” City Manager Bert Lumbreras said. “It’s exciting that the Governor has appointed him to this essential board and we are confident that he will be a valuable contributor.”
