The Journey Continues: Return to Veterans Patrol

My journey this week takes me to a return visit to the Veterans Patrol, a new faith-based organization in San Marcos dedicated to supporting veterans and helping them find and maintain inner peace in their lives.

My journey this week takes me to a return visit to the Veterans Patrol, a new faith-based organization in San Marcos dedicated to supporting veterans and helping them find and maintain inner peace in their lives.

Veterans share a camaraderie and warmth of brotherhood when they meet. I always say “I know your heart due to our unique military experiences.”

Jesus honors the faith of soldiers. Six times in the New Testament centurions are mentioned, all in a favorable light. The scriptures record the faith of a centurion, a military leader in the Roman army.

“A Centurion came to Jesus asking for healing for his servant who was sick. The Centurion humbly honored Christ as a superior authority.” Matthew 8:5

True faith honors Christ and Christ honors true faith – the Centurion’s servant was healed. We honor veterans, but we worship Jesus Christ as our great commander in chief.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend.” John 15:13

“But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up.“ Ecclesiastes 4:10

Local leaders for Veterans Patrol are myself, Pastor Paul Buntyn of Abundant Life Christian Church, Pastor Eloy Narvaiz of Soul Harvest Church and James Bryant Jr., Jack Carson, Charles Kight and Ruby Oaks. Meetings are monthly. All branches of service, ranks, genders, ethnic groups and economic statuses are welcome.

Our next meeting is Monday, Feb. 24 at the Abundant Life Christian Church, 20131 San Marcos Highway. Come and share your journey. You are important. For information, call 512-216-9519 or go to Veterans Patrol's website.
