City searches for comment on HUD funding plan

The City of San Marcos is seeking public comments on its 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan draft — a requirement from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grants.

The city’s draft plan features feedback from recent general public outreach and will be available for citizen review and comment, beginning on Sunday, March 15 through Tuesday, April 14.

HUD grants the City of San Marcos approximately $700,000 each year in CDBG funds. The city’s Consolidated Plan is a document that guides the use of the grant funds for the next 5 years. It lists the city’s priority needs for CDBG funding and provides an analysis of local CDBG efforts.

The Consolidated Plan will be available to view during business hours at the following locations: San Marcos Public Library —  625 E. Hopkins St; City Hall Lobby — 630 E. Hopkins St.; and the San Marcos Activity Center— 501 E. Hopkins St. An online copy will be available to view on the city’s website.

According to the city, “Comments must be made in writing and should include the sender’s full name and physical address. Comments may be sent electronically to [email protected] or by mail to: City of San Marcos, Attention: CDBG Office, 630 E. Hopkins Street, San Marcos, Texas, 78666.”
