We at KZSM.org are doing everything in our power to help and support our community during this unprecedented COVID-19 emergency. We will be broadcasting News Specials daily at noon, featuring live interviews with officials from San Marcos, Kyle, and Hays County. We will also read press releases and bulletins as they become available.

Since beginning the broadcasts on Monday, March 16, we have featured interviews with Mayor Jane Hughson, San Marcos Director of Communications Kristy Stark, Hays County Commissioner Lon Shell, Rachel Ingle from San Marcos City Emergency Management and Alex Villalobos from Judge Ruben Becerra’s office. To reflect on the impact on San Marcos business, we are contacting local business people such as the owner of Mochas and Javas. And we will continue to reach out to KZSM family and friends from around the world for reports on conditions there.

Phone in with your questions and comments.

If you miss the noon special, go to our web site to catch the podcast. Go to KZSM.org, and click the white “expand” arrow in the lower left hand corner of the window; then click on “Podcasts” in the upper right corner of your screen. All of our updates are available under “News Specials.”

Since its inception three years ago, KZSM has been dedicated to and focused on the San Marcos community, and we strive to serve it now in these difficult times. Rob Roark, our Operations Manager, has worked tirelessly to gather information and line up interviews to give our listeners the most accurate and recent reports. His news specials, like his regularly scheduled show We the People, reflect his dedication to communi ty involvement and grassroots activism.

Some of our other live shows, such as Into the Grey and The Veterans’ Hour also address community concerns. In addition, we feature an extensive variety of music, including Metal Mark Live, Rock Your Face, The Mop Tops and the King, and San Martian Sounds.

Other broadcasts such as Bookmarked and Back to the Movies will engage your imagination. Soul Sanctuary, Inspirational Moments, and Friday Night with Care all provide the calming, uplifting talk and music that we need so much right now.
