The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds' F-16 Fighting Falcons squadron flew over Hays County on Wednesday
The squadron flew over Austin, San Antonio and surrounding cities to honor front-line workers and health care professionals responding to the coronavirus pandemic.
The flyover was delayed by weather for an hour and started at approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, beginning in Leander, circling over Georgetown, Round Rock and Pflugerville, then passing over downtown Austin flying along Interstate 35. The Thunderbirds circled out to Lakeway and South Austin before returning to I-35 and heading through Buda, Kyle and San Marcos.
The flyover demonstrations were a part of the Pentagon’s “Operation American Strong” mission, thanking first responders, essential personnel, and military service members.
