Ed Mihalkanin announced his intention to file for re-election to San Marcos City Council Place 3 on Friday.
Mihalkanin, an associate professor of political science at Texas State University, has been on the city council since 2016. He also spent two other stints on the San Marcos City Council from May 1996 - May 2000, and May 2001 - Nov. 2006. Mihalkanin, who has lived in San Marcos for over 30 years, said he plans to file for re-election later in July.
“I will continue to work to further economic development in order to increase job opportunities and diversify our tax base, continue our stewardship of our natural resources and continue to help local businesses and our downtown,” Mihalkanin said in a statement. “Working together, our community can make it through this pandemic and make San Marcos even better than it is.”
